Meet Justin Effres
Los Angeles Injury Attorney On Your Side
Personal injury attorney, Justin J. Effres, earned his J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in 2012 and his B.A. in Rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley in 2009. He has an unequivocal passion for advocacy and serving his clients throughout Southern California, including Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Ventura, and all surrounding counties.
As a first year lawyer he was a proud member of the Bet Tzedek New Leadership Council, which allowed him to provide pro bono legal services to indigent clients in the areas of housing, elder law, employment rights, debtors’ rights and bankruptcy.
Education & Achievements
Justin is a rising star trial lawyer. He tried his first 5 jury trials in just 21 months. One verdict was 10 times the insurance company’s top offer, and another verdict was more than double the insurance company’s top offer. Justin also played an integral role in recent multimillion dollar settlements: $11.25M, $5.75M, $2.015M, and $1.6M.
As a fifth year lawyer, Justin graduated from the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College at the Thunderhead Ranch in Dubois, Wyoming. This exclusive, nationally-renowned training program only accepts lawyers who represent human beings and not insurance companies, large corporations, or governmental entities other than legal services or public defenders.
During law school at the University of Southern California (USC), he clerked at Effres & Effres. He also spent a semester externing for the Honorable Barry Russell at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California, and a summer doing research for esteemed real estate law professor and textbook author George Lefcoe.
As an undergraduate at the University of California in Berkeley, Justin served as intern and then intern coordinator for the Pretrial Services Division of the Alameda County Superior Court of California, Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse. Pretrial Services facilitates the release of recently arrested criminal defendants on their own recognizance – without posting bail – where it can be shown that they are not a flight risk or a danger to the community.

Dear Steve, With our case now settled, we wanted to reach out to thank you, Justin and the entire team for your representation of our daughter. It was clear to us that your professionalism, expertise and advocacy of our family’s interests made the entire process run smoothly. We specifically appreciate how well you interacted with our daughter. After we hung up with you on speaker phone leaving the courthouse that last day she said “I like him” in a very childlike, affectionate tone. We also wanted you to know that our decision to settle did not come easily. In the end, we believe the decision was in our daughter’s best interest. We know you worked hard to prepare a strong case and do regret not having the opportunity to see that through. Lastly, on a personal note, we wanted to compliment you on Justin. He is a truly impressive young man; intelligent, polite and very good natured. Just a couple of comments Steve made in the days leading up to our daughter’s trial as we got to know Justin better. To our daughter; “You can tell a lot about a man by seeing how his children behave; Mr. Effres seems like a really good man.” To S: “If you have a son, he (Justin) is what you want him to be like; if you have a daughter, he’s the kind of guy you’d like her to end up with.” Anyway, I’m sure you don’t need to hear it from us, but you and your wife must be very proud of your sons. I hope this doesn’t sound hollow, because it is most definitely not, but please keep in touch and let us know if there is ever anything we can do for you. If we ever come across a friend who is in need of representation, we will recommend you and your firm without reservation. Thanks again and best wishes by S, S, and M- S, S & M

Dear Mr. Effres, We just once again wanted to thank you so very much, for your fine (I should say “great”) handling of Anne’s case. We have never had to “go to court,” or sue anyone in the past and really had no idea where to start with any of the details. Thanks to you, you made a bad topsy-turvy affair a very easy ordeal on our behalf. And my husband and I really appreciate the time and effort you gave the case. I hope we never have to do anything like this again, but should something like this happen you can be sure of hearing from us again – Thank you very, very much. With warmest regards- F & D

Dear Mr. Effres and Office, It has been almost a year since we accepted the settlement for Jonathan and we wanted to thank you all for your help. We will not forget the empathy you showed us during the stressful time we were going through as a result of Jonathan’s injury. Everyone in the office was always pleasant and helpful. We also recognize the thoroughness with which our case was prepared should it have gone to trial. We won’t hesitate to refer you to our friends should they need an attorney. Jonathan is starting kindergarten next week and has a full-time mom now (since February)! We are all enjoying our new house. Wishing you all the best- M,D & J

Dear Mr. Effres, I would like to express my deep appreciation for assisting me when I called you regarding the problem I had with a dental group I had been going to. Unfortunately my only solution will be small claims court. Here is a case where the dentist said he was qualified to do root canals and missed the canal and went into my gum even though he took 3 x-rays during the procedure, and very casually said, “sometimes things like this will happen.” I wish to thank you again for your advice and you can be assured I will most certainly come to you if & when I need an attorney. Your thoughtfulness meant a lot! by H. M.- H.M.

I found Effres & Associate by chance. Not knowing what to do after my accident, I surfed on the web and came across this company. After reviewing the testimonials, I decided to call them. For some reason, I did not want to call those big law firms that have big billboards everywhere. I went to talk to Justin on the next day, and found him to be a truly concerned young attorney. He is not a pushy lawyer, but always friendly and professional. He never failed to answer my questions, and always gave me valuable advice. After almost two years dealing with the case, Justin brought a successful ending to the case. Thanks, Justin.- S. I.

Dear Mr. Effres, It was very kind of you to want to help me with getting settled with social security. I did not send any papers, as I thought I should wait until the first of the month. I have received my check at last. It came on the 3rd of August. I must tell you it made me very happy to know you wanted to help me. I did appreciate that so much, and I want to thank you and say, God Bless you. Sincerely, M. K. P.S If I ever need a lawyer again I won’t forget you. by M. K.- M.K.

In August of 2015 I was involved in a serious motorcycle accident that involved the loss of operation of my dominant arm, as well as a traumatic brain injury. My parents had contacted Effres and associates (they were referred to them by another lawyer for another injury to a relative) and they drove from Agoura Hills down to Pasadena immediately, surveyed the accident scene, and then arrived at the hospital. Over the next two and a half years, Justin Effres and his father Steven Effres, relentlessly pursued this case for me, even when at one point it seemed like there wasn't much that could be done to resolve the situation. I had to go through the typical trial stuff such as meetings, deposition, medical appointments for Effres' firm and for the defense, but Effres did all that he could to make everything doable and smooth as possible for me. My perception of lawyers was certainly changed for the better after working with Justin and his dad, because of their genuine sincerity. They were always available and fully knowledgeable of the questions that my family and I had for them. Despite the case dragging on for over 2 years, they never left me hanging or feeling like the case was going nowhere, because Justin kept searching for answers and kept me updated with everything. All of his hard work paid off in a successful outcome for me. I would hope that nobody NEEDS to have an injury lawyer, but if they did, I would absolutely recommend Effres and Associates in a heartbeat.- E.E.

Dear Mr. Effres: Thank you for all of your work on my behalf regarding the wrongful death of my mother in the parking lot of the Burbank mall. This was a difficult and complex case in that there were several entities that had to be dealt with simultaneously. To make matters worse, none of the parties were inclined to move forward in an effort to reach a resolution. Thanks to your persistence, patience and skillful negotiation a very favorable settlement was subsequently reached with all parties satisfied and in full agreement. I am very pleased that you kept me informed at each step of this process and thankful to have you as my attorney in this matter. Yours truly by L. W.- L.W.
